With approximately 132 million streams, it comes in miles ahead of Post Malone’s previous record.
It was normal that Drake’s new album, ‘Scorpion‘ would break various spilling records, in light of his star power and discussion prompting the album, and gushing stages, Spotify and Apple Music has affirmed that in reality the album has smashed the Spotify record for the greatest opening day with a gigantic 132 million streams on June 29, the day it was released, which puts it miles ahead of Malone’s 78 million.
Scorpion currently occupies the top 23 spots on the Spotify U.S. song charts. It holds the top 12 spots on the worldwide charts, with XXXTentacion’s “SAD!” interrupting at No. 13 before 5 more Drake songs appear at No. 14 through 18. According to Spotify, Scorpion was bringing in millions of streams per hour on Friday, 10 million to be exact. Spotify confirmed Drake’s eye-popping numbers via Twitter, posting a tweet that read: “Drake’s new album Scorpion is currently being streamed over 10 million times per hour.”
Scorpion will undoubtedly land atop the Billboard 200 chart when the final numbers are released next week.
